What made this Main Event different from others in previous years was the delayed final table. 9 players waited anxiously for approximately 4 months to resume play in November and after a long heads up battle, about 104 hands, the match was finished when Peter Eastgate's wheel defeated Ivan Demidov's 2 pair. Peter Eastgate beat Phil Hellmuth's record of being the youngest player to win the WSOP Main Event, a record that stood for over 20 years.

With all of that being said, 4 of the winners of the WSOP since the turn of the century have been associated with PokerStars. PokerStars WSOP FPP Satellites

For all of you grinders out there, here is an opportunity to use of some of those FPP's that you have stashed away. You will have a few different ways to utilize your FPP's which will earn you a seat to a FPP final and the 3 winners there will earn seats to the Main Event. Here are your choices.

• 40 FPP + Re-Buys: 1 entry into FPP final for every 4k FPPs in the prize pool.
• 400 FPP: 1 entry into FPP final for every 10 players.
• 40 FPP: 1 entry for every 100 players

This is by far the cheapest way to go. The only thing that should be pointed out is that "fish" play poker too and earn FPP's so you should expect very loose play at the beginning stages while the FPP final should be a little bit tighter games.

Pokerstars Step Tourneys

Without trying to be too biased, this is where you will get the most bang for your buck. By playing in the PokerStars step tourneys, you are trying to earn a seat into the Main Event for as little as $7.50 or 500 FPPs. What makes this such a great value is that as long as you place in the top 5, and sometimes 6, you will still be in the running to take the top prize. Since explaining step tourneys can get a little confusing, we have the buy ins to these events as well as a detailed explanation of what you will in each step depending on where you finish.

• Step 1: Buy In is $7.50 or 500 FPPs
• Step 2: Buy In is $27 or 1,750 FPPs
• Step 3: Buy In is $82 or 5,125 FPPs
• Step 4: Buy In is $215 or 13,500 FPPs
• Step 5: Buy In is $700
• Step 6: Buy In is $2,100

All of these can be entered by winning and advancing through the steps, or you have the option to buy directly into any event. Here is what happens to you depending on where you finish in each step.

Step 1: 1st and 2nd place advance. 3rd Place retries Step 1. 4th place wins $1.50.

Step 2: 1st and 2nd place advance. 3rd and 4th retry Step 2. 5th retries Step 1.

Step 3: 1st and 2nd place advance. 3rd, 4th, and 5th retry Step 3.

Step 5: 1st and 2nd place advance. 3rd and 4th retry Step 5. 5th and 6th retry Step 4.

Step 6: 1st wins grand prize. 2nd and 3rd wins $1,500. 4th and 5th win $1k. 6th place wins $500.

As you can see, there is tons of value to be had in the step tournaments and with a little bit of effort you can definitely win a seat for as little as $7.50.

WSOP Cash Games Satellites 2025

While the other two options outlined above may seem a bit more lucrative in terms of winning for less money invested, PokerStars is offering cash alternatives to winning a seat to the 2025 Main Event. This accomplishes a couple things like thinning out the playing field as well as thinning out some of the bad players. You will find that choices you have are endless and you only have to win 2 steps to win a trip to the WSOP.

The cheapest game you will find is $2 which offers re-buys and the highest event is $1,050. The types of games vary from shootouts to re-buys to turbo rounds with re-buys. Although slightly biased again, shootouts are a great way to enter big tournaments, as you do not have to deal with changing tables and players.
