How To Play

2-7 Triple Draw starts out with each player being dealt five cards face down. The player directly to the left of the dealer posts the small blind and the player to the left of the small blind posts the big blind, much the same as when playing Holdem or Omaha. A pre draw round of betting commences starting the player to the big blinds left.

Play moves around the table in a clockwise direction. Once the first, pre draw, betting round is over any players who remain in the hand then have the chance to draw at their hand. This means they can swap any amount of cards in their hand with cards from the deck, you do not have to draw and players who don't take advantage of the draw are known as 'Standing Pat'. There are a total of three draws and four betting rounds when playing 2-7 Triple Draw before a showdown takes place.

As mentioned before players can stand pat and choose not to draw at any point. 2-7 Triple Draw is usually played exclusively as a limit game but on Pokerstars there are a couple of pot limit and no limit tables available, these however aren't anywhere near as popular as the fixed limit 2-7 Triple Draw tables.

2-7 Triple Draw Hand Rankings

2-7 Triple draw uses the 2-7 lowball poker hand rankings system in which the best possible holding is 2-3-4-5-7 and the worst possible hand is a flush. Straights and flushes count against you when playing Triple Draw as well as pairs. The aim is to make the best lowest hand according to the 2-7 hand rankings. Below is a list of the top 10 2-7 lowball poker hand rankings:

1) 2-3-4-5-7

2) 2-3-4-6-7

3) 2-3-5-6-7

4) 2-4-5-6-7

5) 2-3-4-5-8

6) 2-3-4-6-8

7) 2-3-5-6-8

8) 2-4-5-6-8

9) 3-4-5-6-8

10) 2-3-4-7-8

Your highest card is always used first to rank your hand so any 7 low will beat any 8 low which beats and 9 low and so on. If the highest card in your hand and your opponents hand is the same then next card is used to determine the winner. This happens with all five cards, if you have exactly the same hand then the pot is split 50/50.
